Down the Street #9 with Ellery and Simya

We took some time to recharge but we owe you this latest release, it’s a great one!

Compared to the Holiday Season, the New Year tends to start off light for live events. This allows for much welcomed rest, some 2025 planning, and a bit of fun. What do we consider fun around here at Stanford Sound and Stage? An entire convention filled with live sound and stages!– The National Association of Music Merchants also known as NAMM.

Stanford Sound & Stage being based in Orange County means NAMM is just a quick trip up the 5 freeway for us. NAMM week is always a favorite of ours. It’s a time to learn and check out the latest gear. We got to put our hands on the new Behringer Wing, Allan & Heath SQ Rack, as well as check out new offerings from QSC, RCF, and Shure (I got a cool hat at the claw machine!). We took a variety of classes ranging from marketing tips to event safety seminars from industry professionals. All in all… it was a great 5 days of learning and experiencing all the great things coming to the music industry in 2025.

To start the year’s blog off right at Stanford Sound and Stage, we have to reach back into 2024 and get you some footage of one of the best Down the Streets we had all year. November’s Down the Street featured two extremely talented vocalists and songwriters we had the pleasure to welcome to El Indio Botanas Y Cereveza in Downtown Santa Ana. We’re excited to see what 2025 has in store for these multitalented women.

First up was Ellery! We’ve had the privilege of knowing Ellery through one of our great local singer songwriter friends, Migstape. Her voice is crisp and refreshing, her lyrics tell relatable tales that sort of hypnotize you with the sound of her ukulele. The featured song is a cover of Billie Eilish’s L’amour De Ma Vie. Which is so awesome:

Simya came through with an incredible backing band. Any musician backing Simya has got to be top notch to keep up with her soulful powerhouse vocals. See for yourself with her performance of “This Kind of Love”.

Resident Vinyl once again provided an awesome set list for the night. Consisting of music that reached back to Cocteau Twins and included other awesome earthy tones from the likes of Mazzy Star, Clairo, Beach House, and Drug Dealer to name a few.

We hope that this feature will bring some positive energy to your 2025.

We’ll eventually be back with another local night. When? We don’t know yet, but while we’ve been away we’ve been working on some new projects so stay tuned!

Thanks for following along Down The Street 2024.
