Down the Street #7 with Los Emptys and The Offtrax

For a moment we thought nothing could find us as busy as this past summer.  We forgot just how demanding the month of October can be as it leads up to Día de Muertos and our biggest event of the year, Viva La Vida. Add to that, the day of September’s Down The Street show, we were contacted to provide sound reinforcement and engineering for an event taking place in Sedona, Arizona just two days later! Safe to say our calendar filled up a bit more than we anticipated. And you heard right, Stanford Sound and Stage can officially say we have taken the show on the road. In the matter of 48 hours, contracts were signed, deposits were sent, we filled our transit and hit the road to provide our services in the shadow of the beautiful Red Rocks of Sedona.

For September’s Down the Street show, we brought through The Offtrax, a local band that has been rocking the Santa Ana scene since 2019. We always love local bands that are putting in work to make their music heard everywhere. And this band takes it one step further with killer merch including stickers, t-shirts, and some badass button downs for the band! The Offtrax blessed our stage with one of their hits from their album Fucktacular, Carry on Cruisin’

We asked The Offtrax if they had any recommendations as to who would be down to book a show with them. They actually had a band that was interested in playing a show around this time. Thanks to The Offtrax, we were able to book our first out of state performer: Los Emptys from Las Vegas, Nevada. The interesting thing about this situation is that I was hoping to one day book Los Emptys because we were already following them on Instagram and really dug their sound. And as fate would have it, I hit them up on the suggestion of The Offtrax and they said YES! We’re so glad this date worked out with their Cali trip. They even had SoCal guitarist Kyle Katano join them for their set. He blended in so well with the Los Emptys crew you wouldn’t even know it was his first time performing with them. The song we featured from their performance is Last Call

This was a very special night to see the camaraderie between two bands catching up and enjoying sharing the stage together. We didn’t catch it on camera but they took a big group shot together at the end of the night and… I’m not crying, you are!

Maybe you know this already but in case you do not, we have been lucky to also feature a local vinyl record store popup shop at El Indio with Resident Vinyl. Owen has been killing it at Contra Coffee of late so it’s always awesome that he finds time to come through on these local nights. AND…. Owen curates really cool playlists for each Down the Street show. I gotta say, September’s playlist has so far been our favorite.

Yep yep… our exclusive Down the Street menu is alive and kicking. Featured on the menu are tacos, tostaditas, aguas frescas, and chelas at great prices for any artist. Thanks so much to El Indio Botanas Y Cerveza, for letting us have this unique offering on Down The Street nights! This deal is exclusively available from 8PM-11PM, so come by and have a bite or drink and support local music at the same time.

These tostaditas s are bomb. Try them next time at Down the Street!

Down The Street returned to El Indio on Thursday, October 24th with The Corpos and Bounce House. We’ll have the highlights from this video out soon.
