We hope to be back in 2025!
It was a long weekend. But a great weekend. We spent the four days together as a team learning all we could from an industry that seemed on the brink of extinction a few years ago. And I think this is the first year that NAMM has really come back from the pandemic of 2020. Compared to last year, the attendance numbers I observed on Friday were huge. I think it was the busiest day of the weekend for sure.
Overall I felt that we never ever set foot in the expo hall where all the cool new products and noise reside. It’s awesome to know that people can go and talk to the creators and companies that are presenting their new products, but in the end the knowledge we all left with on Sunday afternoon was the most important aspect.
I also really enjoyed taking the Allen and Heath DLive course with some of our sound engineers (Priscilla and Chase). It was a great opportunity to take a look at the DLive board and check out the features it has to offer. Overall, I was impressed with how the control surface looked, worked, and felt. I was also glad to hear that these products are made by sound nerds who really care about the craft of sound engineering.
The last session we attended for the weekend was called “Developing Organizational Relevance Through Inclusive, Empathic, and Responsive Leadership.” I learned a lot about leadership and myself during this session. And although it applied initially to being a leader for a non-profit organization, I think the knowledge shared with us during this session could definitely be applied to leaders and staff in various different industries.
After about a week removed from the end of NAMM 2024, I was able to go back and check my notes and reflect on what made the biggest impact on me that weekend. I think the biggest on me was the wealth of knowledge that people are willing to share with people like me. Like minded individuals in the same industries that are offering their know-how to people like me that are just getting started is extremely important to keep the industry viable and healthy for the years to come. I’m coming back to our little company emboldened and ready to reach my goals in 2024. And I’m hoping everyone on our crew feels the same way about it as well.
